Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
We believe (& those who join our team tell us!) that if you're going to be a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP), this is the place to do it.
We care about and are committed to the quality of the care we provide. We also take care of our team members to support their own wellbeing. That's why we ask our PWPs to do less diary contacts in a week than other services; allowing more time in the appointment to connect with people and make a difference.
We offer our qualified PWPs opportunities to progress and develop in the role. Whether that's through supervision training or opportunities to join project steering groups to shape the service or design new courses; this service offers both the environment and the support to help you flourish in your career.
We do all this because we know that when you feel supported and valued and when you have a say in how things are done, you'll thrive.
This is your chance to develop your career in one of the most flexible and supporting working environments you will find.

PWP Trainee
"Being a Trainee PWP in a new service could be quite nerve-wracking and intense as you are studying alongside working. Although, my experience working with Heath in Mind has only been a positive one. I have felt so supported throughout my training, not only through my supervisors but by other members of staff in my locality, fellow trainee’s and managers in the service. The best part of my job is seeing the positive changes in patients and allowing them to learn tools and techniques so they can help themselves with their difficulties. The thing that I look forward to most with Health in Mind is the abundance of opportunities within the organisation to expand my knowledge and responsibilities. I would highly recommend Health in Mind as a place of work mainly because of the opportunities, collaborative working and the welcoming staff. -Bethan, PWP Trainee
I love my job because it has a positive impact on patients who access the service. I love working for Health in Mind because it is a forward thinking and dynamic service that is responsive to the local community and passionate about the services we offer. As a trainee I have felt fully supported throughout my course and the transition to qualified practitioner has been well managed by my managers and supervisors". -Taryn, PWP Trainee
PWP (Qualified)
"Working as a qualified PWP for Health in Mind has been fantastic, and I feel very lucky to work here. When I took the job back in 2014 I had been feeling on the point of burning out after working for another IAPT service, but I quickly found that the supportive culture, flexible working arrangements, and autonomy I was given here reignited my passion for IAPT and helped me to help countless patients over the years. I was given great opportunities to develop, such as attending national conferences and completing the IAPT Supervisor Training, and these opportunities helped me progress into a leadership role. Health in Mind truly value the work we do at step 2, and I feel very grateful to be part of the team. Amy, PWP Team Lead
I love that in the role of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, I support service users to make such positive changes to their mood in such a short space of time. I love that I am helping to equip them with tools to become their own therapist rather than creating a dependency on services.
Working for Health in Mind is a dream as it is friendly, welcoming, warm and supportive and strikes a balance of the importance of serious hard work jovial camaraderie. I always feel that the team care about my wellbeing just as much as our service user’s wellbeing
I love that, when things go wrong (as they inevitably do in any job), the management team put their hands up and learn for the future. They encourage staff participation as much as possible, they are transparent about decisions and they care about staff development.
Health in Mind trust their staff and as a result there is not a culture of micro-management. This engenders two-way trust and a service where we all want to help each other where possible. Staff wellbeing is high on the agenda.
It is such a warm team it sometimes feels like an extended family, this is reflected by staff staying with the service for many years" - Sarah, PWP

CBT Trainee
"I love my job because it challenges me to develop and mature professionally and personally.
I really love working in Health in Mind because the team are fun, friendly and easy to talk to.
I really value the culture of Health in Mind, staff are cared for and their needs are genuinely treated as important.
If I was to compare this team to others I’ve worked in previously I’d say Health in Mind is more supportive and pro-active in encouraging professional development and makes positive changes to our practice.
I would absolutely recommend this as a place to work. I have not regretted working for Health in Mind for a single day - we're a great bunch - there are great career and training opportunities too."
-Oscar, CBT Trainee
“I have been a CBT trainee for 10 months and have really enjoyed the role and learning experience. I have found Health in Mind to be very supportive in ensuring that our needs are met, with regards to studying and work/life balance and everyone has gone out of their way to help when needed. It hasn’t been an easy year, in terms of remote studying/working but we have been provided with all the guidance and support to help us navigate this. I chose to work at Health in Mind because I felt that their emphasis on professional development matched my thirst for learning and being a CBT trainee has allowed me an opportunity to earn and learn at the same time. I highly recommend Health in Mind and they get a big thumbs up from me.” – Dionne, CBT Trainee
CBT Therapist (Qualified)
"I absolutely love working alongside my clients to make sense of their difficulty and then support them in learning how to manage this and move forward towards their goals. The change that see you in people and their resilience in the face of such difficulties is constantly inspiring.
I have found Health in Mind an incredibly supportive place to work. The stresses of the job are understood and I feel my wellbeing is looked out for by my management team.
At Health in Mind, everyone is respected and has a valued voice regardless of their role. It really feels like a massive team rather than ‘them and us’ across the different roles.
Previously I have worked in services that have a strong culture of hierarchy. At health in mind the structure is much more equal eg. PWPs are encouraged to chair the cluster meeting. This was not something that was ever encouraged in other places I have worked!
I would recommend this as a place to work as it seems like there is a common-sense approach to things for example having a Trainee Lead to go to and be support by when I was training (as a CBT therapist) made such an incredible difference to my experience – I know that other services don’t have such things in place.
It feels that the management team really listen to the concerns of the staff on the ground and actively do their best to put things in place to make changes when difficulties are raised. It’s an incredibly supportive team and people are always so generous with their time." – Nicola, CBT Therapist
